The Jazz Academy
A Step by Step Approach for Anyone interested in Jazz
Are You Ready to Learn skills for Playing Jazz You Wish You Learned in School?
At most schools Jazz is not often taught and online courses are usually geared towards those students who are already accomplished Jazz musicians. In this performance-centered setting, jazz education focuses around jazz theory and skills specific to performance. The Jazz Aacedemy is designed for the junior high/high school student, music educator and or beginning/intermediate adult who is interested in learning to play jazz and improvise.
Through the Jazz Academy, the junior high/high school student, music educator and/or beginning/intermediate adult student will learn to develop solos, organize their thoughts and playing using the sounds around them by using a step-by-step approach that applies to all styles. We'll begin by exploring the 12-bar blues form, the pentatonic scale and gain a greater feel for phrasing riffs and playing 'in the pocket' through rhythmic, melodic, and harmonic repetition.
